Location: Nevada
Client: Bureau of Reclamation

TEC has provided expert services to the Bureau of Reclamation, the Federal Highway Administration, DOE-Western Area Power Administration, and the National Park Service for historic resources at the Hoover Dam National Historic Landmark and Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada and Arizona. TEC’s cultural resources staff have inventoried and recorded more than 500 historic features in the dam complex and the National Recreation Area, prepared Historic American Engineering Record documentation for the dam complex and historic transportation features at Lake Mead, completed a Historic Structures Report for the Original Exhibit Building prior to rehabilitation to enhance its function for visitor education, evaluated railroads used for construction of the dam, and provided initial concepts for development of a master interpretive plan for the dam complex. TEC also accomplished visual and direct impact assessment, drafted historic resources sections of an EIS, and completed mitigation of effects for the construction of a monumental bridge across the Colorado River in Black Canyon just downstream from the dam.
