TEC conducted an energy audit of the Naval Medical Information Management Center at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The energy audit considered electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
TEC prepared and prioritized cost estimates and simple payback scenarios; provided a Technical Assistance Energy Audit and implementation plan; and identified specific opportunities for significant energy savings. These included improvements to the HVAC systems, roof exhaust fans, building temperature controls, domestic water systems, ventilation systems and control dampers, central steam to hot water conversion equipment, central chillers and chilled water system, and lighting systems. TEC used stand-alone data collection monitoring equipment to compare existing building operating conditions with exterior temperatures/ humidity over a several week period.
TEC calibrated building HVAC controls and checked control set points and operating schedules to minimize energy usage and indoor air quality issues. The Energy Audit promoted utility usage reduction without compromising facility functionality or occupant comfort.
