Facility Operational Reviews, General Services Administration National Capital Region

Location: Washington, D.C.
Client: GSA National Capital Region

TEC has supported GSA in the National Capital Region by conducting facilities maintenance operational reviews for 27 major buildings, totaling 17,800,000 square feet. Several buildings reviewed are designated Historic Landmarks and house agencies such as the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, and the Treasury Department.

Each operational review requires an audit of maintenance procedures and documentation, interviews with maintenance staff, and visual observations of building systems. GSA particularly requested confirmation that building mechanical and electrical equipment was being properly maintained. TEC consolidates the information into reports to GSA that include photos of found deficiencies, a completed operational maintenance review/audit checklist, a recommended maintenance action plan, a description of observed industry best practices, and TEC’s assessment of the maintenance program as compared to GSA and industry standards.
