Installation Restoration Program Activities, Air National Guard 124 FW

Location: Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho
Client: Air National Guard

TEC conducted a removal action project in support of the Air National Guard 124th Fighter Wing. The objective was to conduct a limited soil removal action at Environmental Restoration Program Site 1, which used to be the Fire Training Area. Approximately 250 cubic yards of petroleum-contaminated soil were to be removed from depths less than 4 feet below ground surface, transported offsite, and disposed of at a licensed landfill. Unexpected product-filled piping and TCE (Trichloroethylene) contaminated soil were encountered during the excavation to depths as great as 8 feet below ground surface. Soil was immediately reevaluated for disposal considering the presence of TCE. TEC worked with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and the designated landfill to meet disposal requirements.

As a follow-on task , TEC conducted a Remedial Investigation that included a risk assessment, a focused feasibility study, and a plan to close out the site.
