Port of San Diego Maritime Business Plan

Location: San Diego, CA
Client: United Port of San Diego

TEC provided the Port of San Diego with an updated Maritime Business Plan that will be a roadmap for future strategic development of the Port. The Port of San Diego is a mid-size, multi-use, niche market port with two separate marine terminals that together handle a wide variety of products for various tenants. Cargos include liquid and dry bulk commodities, breakbulk, project and general cargo, automobiles, lumber, containers, and refrigerated cargos.

The overall project included a detailed market evaluation, economic and financial impact analysis, Port facilities analysis and capacity assessment, Port and terminal development planning, cost estimating, and a Strategic Development Plan. TEC completed a detailed analysis of the existing port capacity for all existing tenants and terminal assets, looking at both physical assets and operating climate; performed an unconstrained port development analysis in response to the market potential; and followed up with constrained port development planning and impact analysis.
