Preservation Master Plan, Rotunda/South Lawn Project, University of Virginia

Location: Charlottesville, VA
Client: University of Virginia

TEC is developing the Preservation Master Plan for the University of Virginia Academical Village using 3-D BIM (Building Information Modeling) software. The web-based visual database provides a central databank of information relating to Jefferson’s Academical Village (UNESCO Word Heritage site), including historical and current information, which can be updated as changes occur. Live connections between data sources make this resource a living document. Modules in development include Base Module, Facilities Module, Historic Preservation Module, Property Management Module, Landscape Module, and Community Module. BIM software is being used to catalog building components and capture historic attributes. Users will be able to access the composite database through a web portal and see, add, and update information depending on their clearance permissions. The system will eventually capture a complete history of the campus facilities for real time use by the University at multiple levels.
