Client: Los Angeles County Flood Control District
Cardno TEC has been supporting the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) with the implementation of their system-wide monitoring program pilot project. Public Works is enhancing and expanding the existing storm water quality monitoring program in order to obtain better spatial coverage within the tributaries of the major watersheds. The goal of this monitoring program is to better characterize sources of constituents of concern (COCs) discharging into and within the flood control system. This information will be utilized by the LACFCD to prioritize areas for implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) in an effort to reduce COCs.
Cardno TEC is performing all of the water resources measurement and control integration tasks at 19 monitoring stations located throughout the county using a wide-range of state-of-the-art, telemetered, monitoring equipment. Cardno TEC is constructing and installing monitoring equipment to provide in-situ, continuous data on flow, turbidity, electrical conductivity, temperature, pH, Oxidation Reduction Potential, and dissolved oxygen. All water quality instrumentation and station operating systems are being linked together into a fully integrated system offering a central point for datalogging, telemetry, monitoring and control, and will allow conditional action based on any monitored parameter or combination of variables.
