Civil Engineer Houston, TX

Cardno TEC is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer for project team involved in planning and development of port facilities practice based in Houston TX.  This is a full-time position with excellent benefits.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or comparable degree; MS degree a plus
  • 2 to 5 years of civil and/or facilities related experience
  • Engineer Intern certification
  • Experience in transportation planning
  • Experience in site work, including grading and utilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to research, collect and organize information for analysis
  • Ability to work with other team members and clients in a collaborative manner
  • Ability and desire to travel, and to manage multiple diverse assignments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite
  • Eligible to obtain Transportation Worker Identity Credential from TSA

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning port facilities based upon forecast cargo flows, trade patterns, transportation and shipper logistics
  • Participate in studies to support development of port facilities
  • Support preparation of contracting packages including project management, budgeting, scheduling, scopes of work, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and quality assurance/quality control criteria
  • Prepare and present reports, both written and in PowerPoint

Desirable Capabilities

  • Foreign language skills in French, Spanish or Portuguese
  • Experience in design or development of Port facilities and related infrastructure projects, including dredging
  • Experience in design or development of freight railroad and related infrastructure projects
  • Field experience, including inspection, condition assessments, and construction oversight
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2010 and Civil 3D software
  • LEED AP Certification
